JOB PURPOSE
This position consists of four skill levels in the Automation Group. Positions install, calibrate and perform maintenance on well and facility instrumentation and automation equipment. Installs and downloads data and calibration of the metering equipment within the unit. Troubleshoots equipment and control systems to identify and repair problems. Works with field staff to ensure the proper operation of complex PLCs, VFDs, POCs, instrument air systems and RTUs. Duties also include preparing documentation, reporting and participation in safety programs.

Service: Associate or Certificate in Electrical or Electronic Technology preferred or equivalent experience.
Training: Trained in automation sufficient enough to perform with moderate supervision. Able to demonstrate training on low voltage and high voltage electrical awareness and the following OSHA elements: PPE, Energy Isolation, Confined Space Entry, CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Respiration Protection, Carbon Dioxide Safety, H2S Safety Awareness.
Process Understanding: Must be able to draw and describe the process flow from a well, production header and battery. Understands how automation compliments this process.
Practical Operation Skills: Demonstrate how to check zero and span on a transmitter. Explain how the following valves operate: ball, gate, globe, divert, controlled by Analog or Digital. At a header location, describe how a 2 phase separator operates, what causes upsets, how the level is controlled. Calculate the volume per foot of a tank. Explain the possible outcomes when a 3 phase vessel is in HHL alarm.
Computer Skills: Demonstrate how to log on to the company network. Demonstrate how to log on to the SCADA network. Demonstrate the use of a multimeter.
Technical Understanding: Describe the difference between the well casing and tubing. In the field identify the following components: pressure transmitter, I/P, valve actuator by type, AI, DI, AO, DO. Identify parts of a LACT meter and describe how it works. In the field identify the parts of an orifice meter: flange, plate, differential pressure taps, meter run, temp probe.
Skills Testing: Achieve a passing grade on a written quiz and pass a field exam given by your supervisor.
Automation Technician II:
Service: Minimum one year as an Automation Technician I or equivalent experience.
Training: Trained in operations sufficient enough to perform with minimum supervision. Able to demonstrate training on the following OSHA elements: PPE, Energy Isolation, Confined Space Entry, CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Respiration Protection, Carbon Dioxide Safety, H2S Safety Awareness, Portable Fire Extinguisher, Electrical Safety, Hot Work, HAZCOM.
Process Understanding: Must be able to draw and describe the process flow from a well, production header, battery, WIP and recycle compression. Understands how automation compliments this process.
Practical Operation Skills: Demonstrate how to safely calibrate a pressure transmitter and H2S, LEL sensor. At a battery location describe: how a 3 phase separator operates, what causes upsets, how the levels are maintained, how pressure on the vessel is maintained. Describe how to determine if a valve is normally closed or normally open.
Computer Skills: Demonstrate the use of a HART communicator on a pressure transmitter. Demonstrate the use of a Fluke 787 process meter.
Technical Understanding: Demonstrate how to log on to the SCADA system, show what alarms are present and how to acknowledge and alarm. Identify parts of the LACT meter and describe what happens when a “bad oil” event takes place. Draw the following meter systems and describe how they work: orifice meter, v-cone meter, wedge meter, turbine meter, micro motion meter, sonic meter.
Skill Testing: Achieve a passing grade on a written quiz and pass a field exam given by your supervisor.
Automation Technician III:
Service: Minimum one year as an Automation Technician II or equivalent experience.
Recognition: For promotion purposes, must have a letter of recommendation from your immediate supervisor.
Training: Trained in operations sufficient enough to perform with nominal supervision. Able to demonstrate training on the following OSHA elements: PPE, Energy Isolation, Confined Space Entry, CPR/First Aid/Bloodborne Pathogens, Hearing Conservation, Respiration Protection, Carbon Dioxide Safety, H2S Safety Awareness, Portable Fire Extinguisher, Electrical Safety, Hot Work, HAZCOM, Excavation, Overhead & Gantry Cranes & Slings, Machine Guarding, Stairways and Ladders. May be trained on forklift.
Process Understanding: Must be able to draw the field process flow. Must be able to calibrate a differential pressure meter. Describe how the seal system works on the LACT meter and the tanks to provide security and how these systems are maintained. Describe what happens when a battery loses instrument air. Name at least four issues that can compromise your instrument air system.
Practical Operations Skills: Demonstrate how to calibrate an orifice, v-cone, & wedge meter. At a battery describe how the composite separator, 3 phase separator and heater treater operate and interact. Explain why cycling the power/PLC is not a good practice to restore a facility to operation
Computer Skills: Demonstrate how to trend data on the SCADA system. Use of PCCU and Roclink software for meter calibration. Demonstrate competency using an excel spreadsheet By completing a meter calibration worksheet with as found and as left values. Use of Prolink software to interface/troubleshoot Micro Motion Coriolis meters.
Technical Understanding: Demonstrate the start-up sequence on a compressor/WIP pump. Identify what can interrupt the start up and running of a compressor at ACGPP or MCCF. Identify how a LACT run ticket is prepared, explain what a meter prover does, describe how temperature and BS&W affect sales volumes, explain how the auto sampler works. Describe the different types of meter systems used in the field and explain which meters are best for the following conditions: flare measurement, compressor discharge, header gas volumes, header liquid volumes, injection well volumes.
Skill Testing: Achieve a passing grade on a written quiz and pass a field exam given by your supervisor.
Automation Technician IV:
Service: Minimum one year as an Automation Technician III or equivalent experience.
Recognition: For promotion purposes, must have a letter of recommendation from your immediate supervisor and a member of the Management Team.
Competency Description: Able to perform all functions of the Automation Technician plus has increased levels of technical skill, discretion and ability to act independently. Leads in diagnosis of automation issues and prepares documentation. Works directly with and assists the engineers. Provides training and advances the development of the Automation Technicians.

JOB PURPOSE
The state certified Journeyman electrician assists the field staff in the operation of oil production facilities, pumping units and overall electrical systems. The Journeyman electrician participates in installing electrical service, minimizing downtime and expediting repairs as well as executing work order assignment assigned to them by the electrical foreman. The Journeyman electrician will train and mentor an assigned apprentice electrician.

It is assumed that the Derrick Hand will be the relief operator in the absence of the Rig Operator.
